Magic Bus

This outreach class was intended to create connections within communities throughout the state of Michigan.  We performed in various cities and worked with these groups on several projects, including parades and acrobatic tricks.

RecycleArt

RecycleArt was a program created as part of an Environmental Art class.  We created a workbook for children to complete that promoted recycling and smart environmental decisions.  We went into several schools and taught about recycling and installed recycling bins in these classrooms and schools.

Pyebwapon

I was part of a group that constructed a 30 foot puppet representing an ideal society.  Pyebwapon, the name of the society we fabricated was a community in which people lived in trees.  All of these trees were connected by bridges.  The people of this society highly value connections between

people and a sense of being one with nature.  While this society does not exist in reality, it is representative of things that we ourselves hold in high esteem.  Part of the project was the Festifools parade on Main Street in Ann Arbor.  Our puppet had a performative aspect, spinning periodically throughout the parade.

Redefining the Museum

For this project, I worked with a group to gauge responses to different sounds in a natural history museum.  We asked people which soundtrack they would like to hear as a part of their experience in the museum.  We found that people feel "classier" when they listen to classical music while perusing the museum.

Viet Nam Mural Project

I spent the summer of 2008 traveling Southeast Asia.  While there, I worked with various non-profit groups and painted murals with other students and community members.  Here are two murals on opposite ends of a long wall at Kids First Village in rural Dong Ha, in central Viet Nam.
